Privacy Policy

Information we collect

We collect account information supplied through our sign-in provider, including your name, email address, account identifier, and verification status. We also store the profile, avatar, project drafts, listings, release notes, saved projects, selected interests, community wishes, feedback, replies, notification choices, support requests, and moderation records you choose to create.

We record basic technical and security information needed to operate the service. When personalized discovery is enabled, we count the project categories you open or select and rank those categories by your activity. You can also select interests during sign-up or in Preferences. Those choices are stored separately from your category activity. Guest category history stays in this browser and can be switched off or cleared in the footer.

How we use information

We use information to authenticate accounts; display public profiles and listings you publish; save projects and conversations; personalize project suggestions; deliver in-app notifications; prevent spam and abuse; review reports; provide support; protect the service; and meet legal obligations.

What other people can see

Published listings, public profiles, public feedback, and public discussion responses, and approved community wishes can be seen by visitors. Drafts, private feedback, account settings, saved projects, and support conversations are limited to you and authorized service administrators, except when access is needed for security or required by law.

Guest comments and private messages

Guest project comments appear as “Guest” only after moderation. A protected, essential browser cookie allows safe retries and lets you connect comment-publication updates to a verified account in the same browser within seven days, if you choose Sign up for updates. We keep a one-way token hash, not the cookie secret, in the database. Guest comments earn no credits. Publication updates appear inside TryMyBuild, not by email.

General profile messages are private to the two participants. You can block further messages or report a conversation for authorized moderator review. Account exports include your conversations. Deleting your account redacts messages you sent and guest comments connected to your account; the other participant’s messages and limited records may remain. Public profile statistics include only published projects, approved public contributions, and aggregate saves.

Service providers and embedded media

We use WorkOS for sign-in, Supabase for database and media storage, and Vercel for hosting. These providers process information for us under their own contractual and security terms. Site fonts are hosted by TryMyBuild; displaying text does not connect to Google Fonts. YouTube, Vimeo, or Loom receives connection information only after you choose to play an embedded video.

Optional analytics

Google Analytics remains off unless you allow it. If enabled, it measures visits and project interest. We do not send your name, email, private draft content, or search terms. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled.

Your choices

You can edit your public profile and selected interests, manage notifications, disable or reset category personalization, change analytics consent, export your account data, and request account deletion from your dashboard. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, and to appeal certain decisions. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Retention and deletion

We keep information while your account is active and as needed for the purposes above. Account deletion removes the WorkOS sign-in identity, uploaded previews, public profile, projects, saved items, preferences, and personal content. Limited redacted audit and transaction records may remain when needed for security, integrity, dispute handling, or legal obligations.

Security and children

We use access controls, encrypted connections, protected credentials, and operational logging designed to protect information. No online service can promise perfect security. TryMyBuild is for people age 13 or older and is not directed to children under 13.

International use and changes

Information may be processed in the United States and other places where our providers operate. We may update this policy as the service changes. We will post the new effective date and provide additional notice when a change materially affects your choices.
